Thanksgiving Day 2014, might I say was… ONE FOR THE BOOKS. Why? Before this whole brain cancer happened, Jordan and my dad had made plans to get baptized in the Jordan River… but obviously with my dad going through treatment, it ended up being a no-go. So my brother suggested, “Why not get baptized in good old Lake Stevens?(because that compares right?) Eventually, we were all on the “let’s get baptized in the middle of freezing November train!” We could have been smart and had done this in the summer, but no… late fall seemed fitting. On Thanksgiving Day at 9:00 A.M, the whole Carter Clan bundled up and went down to the lake. My brother, mom, dad, cousin Matt, and I got BAPTIZED.
Even though, we are a bit CRAZY to be baptized in a freezing cold lake at the end of November… there would be nothing I’d change. When we are CRAZY, when we are OUTRAGEOUS, when we DON’T CARE that everybody is looking at us, that’s when the BEST memories are made. That’s when you see MIRACLES happen. That’s when Jesus SMILES upon us and says “Well done my child.”
Lately I have been studying how to live OUTRAGEOUSLY. I know that is super “Cliche.” But what would be the meaning of life if we weren’t living life fully for Jesus? Would it be being richer than Bill Gates, being more popular than Taylor Swift, winning Miss. America? Sorry to break it to you, but we all will die one day!!! Then what…. nothing is there. To you… NONE OF THIS WORLD WILL EXIST. The only thing that matters is JESUS. Our KING. Our LORD. My DADDY. This is why we made the decision to be baptized… to make a statement; knowing we are made completely new. All of our sins are forgotten, and we will live FULLY for Christ.
My talented brother made an AMAZING video to capture that moment. (You can tell who got the artistic gene… NOT ME!) Make sure your volume is up!
If you can’t feel the holy spirit while watching this… then take a deeper look. JESUS was EVIDENT Thanksgiving Day 2014 in Lake Stevens, WA.
Acts 16:33– At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.
